After the individual tracks are reviewed and adjusted, sequencing and layout follow. Close attention is paid to the negative space between the tracks. The in and outs of the tracks can leave almost as big an impression on the audience as the track its self. An abrupt out fade can be as obtrusive as a drop out in the middle track. Once the client is happy with the layout and sound of the project the next step is preparation for duplication. At the duplication house a “glass master” is created. This is what the thousands of copies of your work will be pressed. It is critical that your data be pristine at this point. Error correction in CD-Rs has come a long way in the last ten years, and they can produce some fine and great sounding recordings. The unknown with CD-Rs in today’s industry is what type of error correction the pressing plant or CD broker will use in the creation of your CD’s glass master. The heart of our mastering system is a SADiE PCM 8. The SADiE allows us to create a master in the form of a DDP master which allows us to error check the data that will be stamped to the glass master by the mastering house. We know before your master leaves the studio the data is correct.
